Market Insight | May Brokerage Overview

The global superyacht brokerage market maintained strong momentum throughout May, reflecting continued buyer confidence as the industry moved toward the height of the Mediterranean summer season. A total of 62 yachts changed ownership, generating a combined last asking price of approximately €514.6 million, underscoring the sustained demand for quality brokerage opportunities across all major cruising regions.

Motor yachts continued to dominate market activity, accounting for 56 of the 62 completed transactions, while sailing yachts represented the remaining six sales. The average yacht sold measured 37.1 metres in length, with an average build year of 2015, highlighting buyers’ continued preference for modern, well-maintained vessels offering contemporary design and proven performance.

The average last asking price reached €9.4 million, with an average value of €36,000 per gross ton, demonstrating continued strength within the upper brokerage market. Yachts spent an average of 467 days on the market prior to sale, reinforcing the importance of strategic pricing, targeted marketing, and global exposure in today’s competitive environment.

Market activity remained firmly driven by the brokerage sector, with 53 pre-owned yachts sold during the month, alongside four new-build orders and two speculation sales. This balanced mix reflects healthy demand for both established brokerage yachts and future delivery opportunities as buyers continue to seek the latest advancements in yacht design and technology.

Supply also remained robust, with 56 new listings entering the global brokerage market during May. The steady influx of inventory provides buyers with an increasingly diverse selection while creating a competitive environment for sellers, making professional marketing and international brokerage representation more important than ever.

As we move further into the summer season, demand for premium brokerage yachts and exceptional charter experiences continues to remain strong. At Kitson Yachts, we continue to see healthy engagement from both buyers and charter clients across key international markets, supported by an active sales pipeline and continued interest in pedigree yachts, new construction projects, and world-class charter opportunities.
