The Best Caribbean Yacht Charter Destinations
The Caribbean is one of the most popular yacht charter destinations in the world, loved for its wonderful climate, crystal-blue waters and over 5,000 islands to explore. The Caribbean yacht charter season runs from mid-December to early May, so now is the time to start choosing the best Caribbean yacht charter destinations for you.
Saint Barth
French-speaking Saint Barthélemy, better known as St. Barts or Saint Barth, is undoubtedly one of the best Caribbean yacht charter destinations of 2021, thanks to its white sandy beaches, stunning bays and excellent marinas. Its sheer opulence makes it a popular superyacht charter destination and a favourite among A-listers, who flock to its beach clubs, chic boutiques, luxury spas and Michelin-starred restaurants.
Capital Gustavia’s historical attractions reflect the island’s Swedish colonial era, such as the 17th-century Fort Karl, which towers above Shell Beach. Yet, despite its opulence, St Barts remains natural, offering excellent scuba diving in Colombier Bay in the northwest of the island.
The Bahamas
Comprising more than 700 islands, most of which are uninhabited, the Bahamas offer a wide range of crewed yacht charter opportunities. In addition, its bays are often only three or four metres deep, making them ideal yacht charter destinations for shallow draught motor or sailing yachts.
Some of the best Caribbean yacht charters head to the Abacos for endless powdery sand beaches and sheltered bays or to Exuma to spot the famed swimming pigs.
Other popular yacht charter destinations are Eleuthera, with its natural pools and vast stretches of coral reefs, while Grand Bahamas boasts magical underwater caves and Harbor Island is loved for its stunning pink beaches.
British Virgin Islands
There are some 60 British Virgin Islands, but the largest four are grouped fairly close together, placing them among the best Caribbean yacht charter destinations, 2021.
Enjoy surfing or shopping in Tortola, and dining on seafood and barbecues on Jost Van Dyke. Sunseekers head to the serene beaches of Virgin Gorda, while Anegada offers snorkelling among its beautiful coral reefs and tunnels.
Guadeloupe
Another of the best Caribbean yacht charters, this butterfly-shaped group of islands is principally made up of two large islands, Basse Terre and Grande Terre, separated by a narrow sea channel. Here you can find tropical rainforests, plantations and sandy beaches, while the surrounding waters are full of live coral reefs. There are gorgeous bays to the south, and superb snorkelling and diving around nearby Pigeon Island, where the Jacques Cousteau Reserve is based.
Antigua
With some 365 beaches, one for every day of the year, Antigua’s coastline is full of hidden coves and historic ports. One of the Caribbean’s original luxury yacht charter destinations, it offers sheltered harbours and fantastic trade winds, and is surrounded by an almost unbroken protective coral reef.
For wonderful snorkelling head to Dickenson Bay and the unspoilt sanctuary of Five Islands Harbour. Off the east coast, Green Island is so beautiful the locals call it the Garden of Eden.
To enjoy some of the best Caribbean yacht charters, prices start at $150,000 per week for a private crewed yacht, depending on size and facilities.
